THE COMPLETE PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE WITH WESLEY LOH

Learn the essential skills for capturing beautiful portraits, from setting up your studio to conducting outdoor shoots and refining your images through post-processing. In this workshop, you'll journey through the art of portraiture, crafting captivating images under studio lights and the open sky. Learn to sculpt with light and refine your vision through expert guidance and essential editing techniques.

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is perfect for photographers of all levels who are eager to:

• Understand the core principles of portrait lighting and posing.
• Confidently work with both artificial and natural light sources.
• Enhance their images using effective editing techniques in Lightroom.
• Develop their artistic vision in capturing compelling portraits.

A limited number of the following lenses will be available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis:

• FE 28-70mm F2 GM
• FE 50-150mm F2 GM
• FE 85mm F1.4 GM II

As our focus is education, we are unable to guarantee the model's gender or ethnicity.

• Spots for our workshops are reserved for Sony Alpha camera owners only. If you do not own a Sony Alpha camera but wish to join this workshop and try our Sony E Mount camera, please follow up with an email to msainquiry.sg@sony.com, stating your request to borrow a camera. Otherwise, you may be turned away at the workshop.
• Learners need to understand aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
• Learners must be able to set the camera's exposure independently.
• Recommended focal lengths are:
  • 35mm to 85mm (full-frame cameras)
  • 24mm to 55mm (APS-C cameras)
  • We strongly recommend avoiding lenses wider than 50mm (full-frame) or 35mm (APS-C) for studio work.
• You are required to bring your own laptop with photo editing software installed, or your smartphone/tablet with a subscribed Lightroom Mobile application.
• Wesley will be using Lightroom Mobile to demonstrate editing, which can be replicated with other image editing software. If you are using other editing software, you need to know where to locate the masking and colour correction tools.

• Working with natural light
• Environmental composition

5:30pm to 6:30pm | Photo Editing 
Editing session demonstrated using Lightroom Mobile, covering but not limited to:

• Dodge & Burn
• Skin tone correction

About Wesley Loh
Wesley is a storyteller with a passion for capturing human emotions. His photography has helped corporate clients showcase a more relatable and approachable side.
Since founding Memphis West Pictures in 1997, Wesley has worked with prominent international brands like McDonald's, Standard Chartered Bank, and JW Marriott, as well as local institutions such as SMU, NTU, and NUS.

His work has been exhibited at Genesis in Paris and the University Cultural Centre in Singapore, and he won an award for the ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu in 2012. Notably, Wesley collaborated with Epigram Books on "100 Singaporeans," a photography book featuring 100 Singaporean faces, as part of his ongoing quest to define the "Singaporean face".
