Power of one vision

Fuelled by their passion for hybrid content creation, Yeo Wee Han and Charmaine Yap of TripeaksImagery are always adventuring around the globe, armed with their Alpha cameras and gear to best capture their creative visions, from vast, scenic landscapes captured in wide-angle to delicate flora and fauna captured in macro.

Drawing on their extensive experience in commercial video and wildlife filmmaking, the duo constantly relies on the Sony Alpha Ecosystem to maximise their creative output. For their most recent undertaking, they produced a dynamic short video, specifically showcasing the advantages of using the Sony Alpha Ecosystem.

Creative Vision with Sony Alpha Ecosystem

The Sony Alpha Ecosystem is home to an extensive collection of cameras, lenses, flashes, microphones, shooting grips, memory cards, apps and services for Sony Alpha users, and a variety of imaging gear that make shooting with Alpha cameras a fuss-free experience. Highly resilient and reliable in every shooting situation, one can focus on capturing their creative vision with confidence, knowing that the technical aspects of their shoot are covered.

“Despite us roughing up our gear in harsh conditions, they have excelled in every shooting situation,” they mentioned. “Accessories such as the very easy-to-use flash system have also given us a huge amount of flexibility and creativity in our macro work.”

It takes an Alpha to know an Alpha

Designed to work seamlessly with Alpha cameras, Sony Alpha lenses and accessories offer unmatched compatibility. This allows creators, from professionals to hobbyists, to effortlessly concentrate on composition while the system expertly manages the technical aspects of shooting.

While it is not uncommon for those starting out their photographic or videographic journey to select an assortment of entry-point gear to save a few pennies on their foray into a new hobby, one may find the need to upgrade to native lenses and accessories eventually as they may lose out on firmware updates and key features one can only unlock with the seamless communication of the Alpha ecosystem.

“When we factor in limitations that will not be the match of native gear, we will then need to ask ourselves, will that be worth it in the long run?” said TripeaksImagery, who shoots primarily on an Alpha 1 II.

Hand-picked by pros

Lenses

Sony Alpha lenses maximise AI recognition performance with fast and quiet autofocus, making it a breeze for TripeaksImagery to capture fast-moving subjects with razor-sharp focus. Furthermore, the compact build of Sony Alpha lenses keeps things light, thus creating an ideal handheld setup when shooting in tight spaces.

While it is hard to choose which lenses to pack for a trip abroad, Charmaine and Wee Han can always count on the versatile Trinity Lenses — the FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II, FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II and FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II to capture a variety of perspectives on the go while maximising their Alpha 1 II’s full potential.

Flashes

Due to the nature of their commercial work, which mainly takes place in their studio, TripeaksImagery swears by Sony Alpha flashes, particularly the GN46 Wireless Radio Control External Flash. The compact and lightweight flash connects effortlessly and securely to the duo’s Alpha 1 II via Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe for seamless communication in every situation.

In addition, inaccurate colour is a dealbreaker as the duo shoots a lot of their commercial work indoors. No matter the lighting situation in their studio, they can always trust Sony flashes to provide accurate colour output and prevent over and under exposure.

Batteries

It goes without saying that no shoot is made possible without a reliable source of power. As photographers who shoot frequently in the great outdoors, Charmaine and Wee Han only rely on the original NP-FZ100 Rechargeable Battery Packs as they retain charge perfectly, and have held up well for many years.

Third party battery packs may cause swelling and in worse-case scenarios, get stuck in your camera! To protect their Alpha cameras, Charmaine and Wee Han only invest in native Sony battery packs that guarantee safe charging and a long battery life for hours of non-stop shooting.

Memory cards

TripeaksImagery has stood by and used Sony Tough SD Cards and CFExpress Type A Memory Cards since their inception, citing their read and write speed and solid build that makes them ideal for use in the outdoors. The duo has never lost a single file from file corruption and as much as possible, they shoot with dual cards so they have an instant backup of their files.
